Hello family and friends,
I’ve been a proud staff member at Autism New Jersey for almost two decades, 17 years next month to be exact. Most of you know my personal family connection to the cause and my commitment and dedication to making New Jersey a better place for my brother and the other residents of all ages with autism and intellectual/developmental disabilities who call this state home.
I’m very proud of my work family – my colleagues, co-workers, friends, and volunteers – who now and throughout the last two decades have worked along side me with that same tireless commitment.
Like all our you, we are surrounded by uncertainty, but continue to move forward, one step at a time.
So, in that spirit, I’ll be walking a 5K between June 6 and June 20 (I haven’t picked the exact day yet) as a part of Autism NJ’s annual fundraising event, the Ride & Stride for Autism. Now virtual because, well, you know.
If you are able to donate to Team ANJ, I would greatly appreciate it. Like other charities, Autism New Jersey has been financially impacted by COVID-19. Your support will help us to continue doing the important work we do every day to make difference in the lives of the 1 in 32 people with autism in New Jersey.
As I prepare for “event day” I will try to update this page with my progress and challenges and will be looking to family and friends to help keep me motivated and focused, or even to join me.
And, while I’ll miss the actual “event day” itself – the camaraderie, the hugs from old friends, the connection to others that we all miss so much right now, we’ll be together virtually – and knowing that makes all the difference.
Thank you for your support.
P.S. No, I did not kidnap a child in the cover photo. I'm with the great ANJ team who plans the event (2018) and our friend, Thomas, who joins us each year in a special song and dance. He loves Bon Jovi.
